No, this is not a Sculptor impaired by illicit substances… rather he is faced with the common and persistent dilemma of originality. UNDER THE IFLUENCE is Douglas Rex Kelaher’s latest installation. It responds to the ideas explored by other artists and their exhibitions. A some-what bizarre sci –fi fantasy landscape series takes us through a playful, slightly surreal dreamscape of model scale architectural structures including of course, strange little inhabitants. While Kelaher references those who came before him, he can’t help but override those influences with that delicious Kelaher quirk and wit. He presents us with this odd cartoon pastel world for us to be immersed in.
