Lisa Benson

From the Black Bag series

11 May - 28 May

Lisa Benson interrogates process, working with images made from marks that are almost incidental byproducts of the colluding participation of her audiences. In this exhibition she plans to create images on photographic paper by various exposures both accidental and deliberate. Benson provides the framework and the apparatus; the resulting imagery is collaboration of circumstance.

The Artist own words:

Black Bag Blue Oyster is an installation culmination of evanescent drawings and their photographic translations. The alteration and shift of materials that occurs when photon receptors are exposed to light is both moving and stabilized in this project. Viewing time, as active an alteration and observation, is subsumed into the drawings, while photographs stabilize the subtle shifts that materialize in the drawings. The combination of drawings and photographs allows action, procedure, and performance to be simultaneously solid and fluid. Enjoy the visual representations of movement and time, congealing and evaporating before your eyes, inviting perceptions of space, colour and light into a dynamic temporal depth.
